The airline TAP Air Portugal will launch a new flight between Lisbon and the Tenerife South airport starting June 15, 2019. The connection will have a daily periodicity and will be linked to the one that, with two weekly frequencies, the Binter company already offers between the Portuguese capital and the Island.
TAP Air Portugal specifies that the new connection, which will be lent with an Airbus 320 and whose tickets are for sale at www.tapairportugal.com/en, will allow a wide range of links with all of Europe to and from the Island. At the same time, it will allow an increase of travelers to Tenerife from the United States and Canada, where the airline has reinforced its presence with flights from the cities of New York, Boston, Miami and Toronto, which in June will be added Chicago, Washington and San Francisco.
The vice president and insular councilor of Tourism, Alberto Bernabé, highlights “the importance of an airline such as TAP Air Portugal betting on the Island with this new flight, which demonstrates the strength of our destiny”. Bernabé explains that “both this connection and that of Binter will allow us to bring more Portuguese tourists – and of other nationalities through the connections with Lisbon – to the Island, for which we are developing an important promotional work in that market with actions with tour operators and associations of travel agencies, as well as with Promotur-Gobierno de Canarias, entity with which we have a joint campaign in the media of that country. ”
Among the actions carried out recently, the press visit to the island by almost a dozen Portuguese media professionals also stands out, in an action in which Binter and the Spanish Tourism Office of Lisbon took part. The climate, the diversity of options, the nature or the proximity are some of the arguments that make Tenerife a destination of great attraction for the Lusitanians. “A market of origin where we have ample opportunities for growth”, adds the tourism advisor of the Island Corporation.
In 2019, the Island will continue with its promotional activities in Portugal. Image and promotional campaigns aimed at families, lovers of active tourism, the possibilities of a luxury holiday and wellness, all with special emphasis on the climate, gastronomy and leisure centers (theme parks), will be the basis of the promotion of Tenerife in that country in the year that begins.
